Unit-a 19th Century Delft Fayence, Miniature Blue & White, Porcelain Longcase Clock. Circa 1880.

19th century
Description

An unusual example of a late 19th century Dutch Delft, tin glazed earthenware, hand painted and moulded miniature bombe shaped longcase clock. The escapement with balance wheel. It has an enamel dial with arabic numerals (see photos).

The case is in the style of a Napoleon III (some people may classify this as Regence) bombe shaped long case clock, which has been extensively hand painted. The front of the case has a central panel with a woman in eighteenth century dress, walking in the countryside. The rest of the front is painted with floral scrolls, shells and geometric patterns.

The base has a rectangular cartouche depicting a seascape.

One side is painted with a church alongside a tree, covered with flowers scrolls and floral designs. The other appears to be a seascape. There is not much of the case that is not painted, other than the back!

The case has a painted monogram mark inside the base that we think reads JPS. It was made in Holland, Nederland or the Netherlands, whichever you prefer.

The case is in very good antique condition, (see photos) there are no, cracks nor restoration. Please see the photographs. The movement is in working order.

This is a lovely decorative piece to add to any collection of miniature items, delftware clocks or watches.
