Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Traditional Chinese coffers were crafted during the Qing dynasty primarily for the secure storage of textiles, valuables, and domestic items. These pieces frequently feature dense timber joinery, protective iron studding, and functional metal fittings.

These trunks were constructed from regional hardwoods and reinforced with forged iron straps, corner mounts, and iron studs. Traditional joinery methods, such as mortise-and-tenon joints, were used without reliance on modern metal screws or adhesives.

Authentic period coffers display hand-forged iron hardware with natural surface oxidation, hand-cut timber joinery, and wear on the base and handles. Original iron studs and hand-hammered latch plates also indicate historical craftsmanship.

A patinated hardwood coffer functions effectively as a focal piece at the foot of a bed, as a low coffee table, or within an entryway. Combining textured dark timber with neutral contemporary fabrics balances historical character with modern decor.

Dust the item regularly using a soft, dry cloth to prevent catching on metal studs or fittings. Position the chest away from direct heat sources and high humidity to prevent the hardwood from warping or shrinking.
