Fascinating Victorian mahogany collector's cabinet with glass panned door having working lock and key. It has a total of 19 drawers, 10 of the drawers are missing the glass covers and 7 have a fabulous collection of butterflies and insect of the world beautifully preserved behind glass. In excellent condition with only marks etc in line with age and use. The specimens are largely in great condition, some have the odd bit of damage as you would expect however still a very interesting collection.

Labelled WATKINS AND DONCASTER NATURALIST 36 STRAND LONDON

In 1879 Watkins moved his business to 36 The Strand, London where he formed a partnership with Arthur Doncaster unfortunately this only lasted until 1880 when William Watkins left to continue independently.
