Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin, known as KPM, was founded in 1763 by King Frederick the Great of Prussia. Throughout the nineteenth century, KPM produced highly detailed ornamental vases and urns influenced by Neoclassical and Revivalist movements, characterised by hand-painted cartouches and gilded decoration.

These vessels were crafted from fine hard-paste porcelain composed of kaolin, feldspar, and quartz. The decorative finish involved hand-applied overglaze enamel paints for figurative scenes and liquid gold or burnished gold leaf for architectural gilding.

Authentic KPM pieces typically feature the cobalt blue sceptre mark stamped or painted under the glaze, often accompanied by an orb mark printed in colour for decorated porcelain. Look for crisp porcelain moulding, precise hand-painted detail, and impressed mould numbers on the underside of the base.

A symmetrical placement works best, positioning the pair at opposite ends of a fireplace mantelpiece or along a formal sideboard. Combining these detailed classical objects with streamlined architectural elements creates a balanced contrast in contemporary spaces.

Dust regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a soft-bristled brush around raised mouldings. Avoid submerging the porcelain in water or using abrasive liquid cleaners, as moisture and chemicals can degrade gold leaf gilding and delicate enamel paint work over time.
