This pair of Neoclassical Revival porcelain vases from the nineteenth century features cream ground bodies with white and gold accents, twin scroll handles, and pinecone finials. Each lidded vessel is adorned with hand-painted polychrome courting scenes on the front, showing figures in pink, brown, and blue garments amidst green foliage, along with fluted mouldings and gilded borders. The porcelain exhibits a glossy glaze finish on both the bodies and the domed lids. FAQs

The Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin, known as KPM, was founded in 1763 by King Frederick the Great of Prussia. Throughout the nineteenth century, KPM produced highly detailed ornamental vases and urns influenced by Neoclassical and Revivalist movements, characterised by hand-painted cartouches and gilded decoration.

These vessels were crafted from fine hard-paste porcelain composed of kaolin, feldspar, and quartz. The decorative finish involved hand-applied overglaze enamel paints for figurative scenes and liquid gold or burnished gold leaf for architectural gilding.

Authentic KPM pieces typically feature the cobalt blue sceptre mark stamped or painted under the glaze, often accompanied by an orb mark printed in colour for decorated porcelain.
