Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1920s.
Inside the cabinet, there is a mirrored back, glass shelves & a light fitting, which would need to be re-wired for safety reasons. There is also a pull out tray for serving drinks. The doors have etched brass escutcheons & we have a key. The drawers also have beautiful etched brass tear drop handles and fine, hand cut dovetailed joints.
There are floral carvings all over this cabinet, on the top edges and in particular on the base section, which are incredibly detailed, so please enlarge all the images to appreciate all the fine details. This cabinet is a very solid well made piece of furniture & quite heavy.
Fortunately, it separates into two sections for easier transportation. Hille were top furniture makers & designers who were producing high quality, unique & stylish items from the 1900’s through to the 1970’s.
They had a very famous exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum in 1981, which I actually attended. Please google them, if you want any more information. I believe this cabinet would make an excellent investment piece, besides being a very useful piece of furniture.
