Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The piece is constructed from warm brown timber with a pleasing original polish finish and stands on four bulbous turned baluster legs linked by joining perimeter stretchers. The rectangular drop-in seat features cream fabric decorated with a floral pattern and shows visible wear. Practical dimensions measure 46 cm high, 61 cm wide, and 40 cm deep. The sound and sturdy frame provides reliable everyday use while maintaining an authentic antique character.

FAQs

Jacobean Revival furniture draws inspiration from early 17th-century English designs, characterised by heavy oak construction, turned baluster legs, rectangular perimeter stretchers, and sturdy joinery.

These items are primarily crafted from solid English or European oak, featuring mortise and tenon joints, timber pegs, and upholstered tops composed of natural webbing, hessian, and woven fabrics.

Authentic period construction displays hand-turned leg profiles, subtle irregular grain patterns, visible pegged joints, and natural oxidation or patina on untreated wood surfaces.

An oak footstool works well beside a fireplace hearth, positioned at the base of an armchair, or placed in a hallway, adding warm wood tones and tactile fabric contrast to modern schemes.

Dust the timber framework regularly with a soft cloth and apply beeswax periodically to nourish the wood; clean the upholstered top using a low-suction fabric brush attachment.
