This Georgian corner cupboard is a bowfront hanging cabinet from around 1800, fashioned in warm brown mahogany with boxwood stringing and a moulded cornice. The twin panelled doors display fine line inlay outlining their top arches, fitted with small round turned wooden knobs and central brass keyhole escutcheons above keyhole covers. The original polish finish shows a deep grain across the timber surfaces, while hinges sit along the outer vertical edges of each door. Measuring 109 cm high by 71 cm wide with a 51 cm depth, the cabinet is designed to mount on a wall in a corner space. Such a piece suits a period dining room, a traditional hallway, or a country house study to provide enclosed storage while using unused wall junctions.

Originating in the 18th century, Georgian bowfront corner cupboards feature a convex curved front designed to fit into wall corners, showcasing classical proportions, symmetrical panelling, and decorative line inlay.

These cupboards were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or flame mahogany veneers, frequently accented with boxwood stringing, brass escutcheons, and pine or oak internal shelving.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-sawn backboards, hand-cut dovetail joints, irregular timber dimensions, original brass hardware, and natural wood shrinkage consistent with age.

A mahogany corner cupboard provides functional storage in modern dining rooms, hallways, or alcoves, offering a space-saving architectural feature that complements both historic and contemporary decor.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year, ensuring the piece is kept away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent drying or cracking.
