Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century English country house bookcase from 1860 is constructed from oak and pine with a pale blue painted finish showing a distressed texture across the surface. The upper section has double glazed doors divided by wooden mullions into twelve panes, topped by a dentil moulding beneath the cornice, while the lower section contains two solid panel cupboard doors set above bracket feet. Practical storage is provided by the internal shelving with a 20 cm depth, making the piece suitable for organising books and displaying decorative objects in a living room, study or hallway. The dimensions measure 202 cm high, 127 cm wide and 38 cm deep.

English painted bookcases from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries were designed to offer both display and enclosed storage, frequently featuring glazed upper doors with wooden glazing bars and painted finishes to match interior colour schemes of the era.

These cabinets typically utilise softwood or pine carcasses covered with layered paint finishes, featuring mortise-and-tenon joinery, hand-blown glass panes, and solid timber backboards.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural wear patterns on contact points, original hand-cut dovetail joints on framing, uneven glass panes showing minor imperfections, and multiple historical layers of paint visible beneath distressed surfaces.

Position the cabinet against a neutral wall to highlight its silhouette, using the upper glazed section to house contemporary ceramics or books alongside lower concealed storage for household items.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid using harsh chemicals or liquid cleaners that could strip the original painted layers or underlying preparation coats.
