Exhibit Antiques has dated these Antique Cranberry Wine Glasses to the Victorian era.
A very fine set of six Victorian cranberry cut wine glasses dating to c.1880.
They have richly coloured cranberry ogee bowls, flute cut to clear around the lower section.

Cranberry glass was amongst the most prized coloured table glass of the Victorian period. Its distinctive ruby-pink hue was achieved through the addition of gold to the glass batch, producing a vibrant colour that complemented both candlelight and gaslight. Examples combining coloured bowls with finely worked cut clear stems required considerable skill.

A particularly elegant set, displaying excellent colour and refinement of form.
