This nineteenth-century Victorian glass whisky tumbler originates from England around 1850 during the period of Queen Victoria. Produced from clear flint glass, the piece has a gently tapered body finished with flute moulding to the lower section, sitting above a substantial solid, moulded octagonal base with a flat rim. The visible details include vertical fluted panels, a heavy base, and a clear transparent colouration without chips, cracks, or restoration. Originally intended for spirits, this traditional tumbler remains versatile today for whisky, gin, rum, or modern cocktails, serving as a practical addition to a sideboard top in a gentleman's library. Measuring 10.2 cm in height with an 8.8 cm bowl diameter and a 7.1 cm base diameter, the item weighs 492 grams and offers a substantial weight and feel in the hand.

Mid-19th-century Victorian glass tumblers often feature thick, heavy bases, facet-cut or panelled sides, and were typically crafted from lead crystal or flint glass for added clarity and weight.

These glasses were predominantly hand-blown using flint glass or heavy lead crystal, providing structural durability, weight, and light refraction.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit signs of hand-crafting such as a polished pontil mark on the base, slight irregularities in glass thickness, minute enclosed air bubbles, and light wear patterns on the lower rim.

These items can be displayed on a modern bar cart, arranged inside a glass cabinet, or integrated into table settings during formal dining occasions.

Wash by hand using warm water and mild liquid soap, avoiding automated dishwashers which can cause clouding or thermal shock to historical glass.
