We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This early 19th-century Georgian Country food cupboard is constructed from warm brown oak with brass hardware. The upper section features a moulded cornice above double doors with fielded panels and fretted diamond lattice ventilation grilles, secured with small round brass knobs. Below the upper cabinet sit three small drawers with crossbanded detailing and central brass pull handles, flanked by inlaid square corner motifs. The lower portion contains a second set of panelled double doors fitted with brass knobs and a central keyhole escutcheon, supported on bracket feet. The entire piece measures 198 cm high, 104 cm wide, and 37 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this cabinet provides practical storage in a kitchen, dining room, hallway, or living space for tableware, linens, or dry goods.

An antique oak food cupboard, historically known as a livery cupboard or dole cupboard, was designed prior to modern refrigeration to store food provisions safely while enabling airflow through decorative pierced or fretted timber panels.

These cupboards were constructed from solid oak using mortise and tenon joinery, featuring hand-crafted fretted panels to provide ventilation, field-panelled doors, and hand-cut dovetail drawer joints.

Authentic pieces from this period display hand-planed timber surfaces, genuine iron or brass fittings, wooden peg joinery, and natural wear around handles and door frames.

An oak food cupboard serves as a functional freestanding pantry in a modern kitchen or provides additional storage for linens and tableware in a dining room or hallway.

Dust the timber regularly with a dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to protect the wood and maintain its original patina.
