Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A matching pair of Gothic Revival bedside chests of drawers from 1870 stands in honey brown ash, finished with brass drop handles and panelled sides. Each chest holds four drawers arranged above one another, set behind framed drawer fronts and decorated with serrated moulding along the top edge, reflecting Victorian design in the manner of Charles Bevan. The timber exhibits a warm grain and natural surface variation across the fronts and panelled sides, while small drop handles hang from decorated backplates on each drawer. Measuring 78 cm high, 45 cm wide and 55 cm deep, these compact bedside chests fit neatly beside a bed in a master bedroom or guest room. They provide functional bedside surface space and storage within a traditional bedroom setting, complementing period furniture or adding character to a contemporary interior.

FAQs

Gothic Revival furniture drew inspiration from medieval architectural elements, featuring details such as carved tracery, serrated mouldings, structured panelling, and heavy brass hardware.

Pieces from this era were typically crafted from solid timbers such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, featuring dovetail drawer joints and solid cast brass pull handles.

Authentic items display architectural carved details, natural patination across timber surfaces, period-accurate brass drop handles, and solid wood drawer lining construction.

Positioning them on either side of a contemporary bed frame balances historic architectural carving against clean modern textiles and minimal lighting.

Dust surfaces regularly using a soft cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish twice yearly to preserve the timber finish away from direct heat sources.
