A sleek and stylish pair of Art Deco satinwood and walnut bedside chests. They were made in England, they date from the 1930’s.

They are of amazing quality and are a very useful size. They are tall and narrow, offering plenty of storage space inside the generous drawers. They are predominantly satinwood, with beautiful burr walnut banding around the edges. The grain patterns and colour tones are absolutely gorgeous throughout.

We have had these stripped and re-polished to a very high standard, the condition is superb.

We also have the matching tall chest of drawers that came with these, seen listed under our other items for sale.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Art Deco furniture, emerging in the 1920s and 1930s, is characterised by geometric shapes, streamlined forms, symmetrical designs, and the use of luxurious materials such as exotic veneers and metal accents.

These pieces typically feature solid timber frames finished with high-quality veneers like satinwood, walnut, or mahogany, often combined with contrasting inlay banding and chrome or brass hardware.

Authenticity is determined by examining construction methods, such as traditional dovetail joints in the drawers, the type of secondary timbers used, natural ageing of the veneers, and original hardware fixings.

They serve as striking focal points in a modern bedroom, pairing well with minimalist decor, neutral colour palettes, and metallic accents that complement the period hardware.

Maintain wood veneer furniture by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying appropriate furniture wax to nourish the finish.
