This 18th-century Georgian wine glass is constructed from clear lead and flint glass in an English country house style. The vessel incorporates a flared bell bowl featuring a solid base and an elongated air tear inclusion within the stem, terminating in a circular conical folded foot. The surface exhibits a polished, reflective finish without visible chips or cracks. The item measures 15.5 cm high, 4 cm wide, and 7.4 cm deep. Positioned on a sideboard top, the piece functions as a decorative tabletop display or collectible vessel. The transparent material catches light from surrounding interior fixtures, highlighting the handmade silhouette and internal air bubble formation. Collectors place it within glass cabinets or open shelving units to preserve its historical character while integrating the piece into traditional home interiors.

Originating in Great Britain around 1740 to 1770, plain stem glasses were developed following taxes on glass weight, leading manufacturers to design simple, elegant unadorned stems supporting varied bowl shapes.

These pieces were hand-blown from heavy lead crystal, often referred to as flint glass, which provided clarity and resonance. Stems were formed separately or pulled directly from the bowl, often incorporating an air tear bubble motif.

Authentic period glass displays a distinct dark greyish cast under light, a rough or snapped pontil mark beneath the conical foot, and light uneven wear around the basal rim from historic usage.

Incorporate historic drinking glasses inside a lit glazed cabinet, alongside neutral ceramics on a dining sideboard, or grouped as single stem displays to highlight shape variations.

Wash individual pieces by hand in lukewarm water using a mild washing-up liquid, avoiding sudden temperature changes and mechanical dishwashers, then dry immediately with a soft lint-free cloth.
