A Victorian silver pepper caster is a tabletop vessel designed to hold and dispense ground pepper, manufactured during the reign of Queen Victoria between 1837 and 1901.

They were typically crafted from solid sterling silver or silver plate, utilizing techniques such as hand-chasing, repousse embossing, fluting, and precision piercing for the lid holes.

Authentic British sterling silver examples feature hallmarks, including the lion passant purity mark, a town mark, a date letter, and a monarch or maker stamp.

Place them as functional decorative accents at the centre of a dining table, or display them on a sideboard or within a glass cabinet alongside other antique silverware.

Clean them periodically with a soft silver polishing cloth and mild soapy water, ensuring spice residues are completely removed to prevent interior oxidisation and tarnishing.
