We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Satsuma ware is a type of Japanese pottery originating from Satsuma Province in Kyushu, characterised by its ivory-coloured, crackle-glaze earthenware and elaborate polychrome and gilt decoration, reaching its peak popularity during the Meiji period.

These pieces were crafted from fine clay, finished with a transparent crackle glaze, and hand-painted using mineral pigments enriched with raised gold enamels known as moriage.

Authentic pieces typically feature fine, even crazing in the glaze, delicate hand-painted detailing, and artist or kiln signatures, such as those from the Kinkozan workshop, stamped or painted on the base.

Position the vessel as a focal point on a neutral surface, such as a dark wood console table or open shelving, allowing its intricate patterns and metallic accents to contrast cleanly against minimalist backdrops.

Dust the surface gently with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth and avoid using water, chemical cleaners, or abrasive materials, which can damage the delicate gold gilt and vulnerable crackle glaze.
