Description

A sleek and stylish pair of Art Deco satinwood and walnut bedside cabinets. They were made in England, they date from the 1930’s.

They are of amazing quality and are a very useful size. They are tall and narrow, offering plenty of storage space inside the drawers and cabinets. They are predominantly satinwood, with beautiful burr walnut banding around the edges. The grain patterns and colour tones are absolutely gorgeous throughout.

We have had these stripped and re-polished to a very high standard, the condition is superb.

We also have the matching tall chest of drawers that came with these, seen listed under our other items for sale.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Art Deco design, prominent in the 1920s and 1930s, is characterised by clean geometric lines, symmetrical forms, and a strong emphasis on contrasting wood veneers such as satinwood, walnut, and burr maple.

Cabinetmakers of this era typically utilised solid softwood or hardwood carcases overlaid with exotic wood veneers, complemented by metal hardware made from chrome, brass, or bakelite.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period construction techniques such as dovetail joinery in the drawers, hand-polished shellac or lacquer finishes, and natural aging of the veneer grain rather than modern synthetic laminates.

Pair these cabinets with neutral walls and minimalist modern beds to allow the striking grain patterns and geometric silhouettes to serve as focal points in the bedroom.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a soft, dry cloth and avoiding direct sunlight or high humidity, which can cause the delicate wood veneers to fade, crack, or lift.
