FAQs

Georgian column candlesticks, produced during the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, feature architectural motifs inspired by classical Greek and Roman columns, typically resting on stepped square bases.

Period brass candlesticks were typically cast in two longitudinal halves using sand moulds, which were then brazed together, turned on a lathe, and finished with hand-tooled decoration.

Authentic period examples often display vertical seam lines along the stem, subtle casting irregularities underneath the base, push-ejector mechanisms, and evidence of hand-chased ornamentation.

Positioning a pair symmetrically on a dining table centre, fireplace mantelpiece, or sideboard introduces classical proportions, metallic warmth, and height to an interior scheme.

Dust regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and clean periodically using a specialised metal polish, avoiding harsh chemicals that might remove the accumulated surface patina.
