A rummer is a traditional heavy drinking glass with a short stem and bucket-shaped bowl, popular in Britain from the late 18th century through the Regency period for serving wine, beer, or rum punch.

These pieces were typically crafted from lead glass or flint glass, shaped using free-blowing or mold-blowing techniques, and decorated with hand-cut geometric patterns or wheel-engraved motifs.

Authentic pieces often exhibit characteristic pontil marks on the base, minor surface imperfections or bubbles within the glass matrix, heavier weight due to lead content, and hand-cut facets that feel slightly worn or rounded over time.

Display them grouped inside a glass-fronted cabinet, on a sideboard as part of a tablescape, or repurpose them for serving after-dinner digestifs to add historical texture to modern dining settings.

Wash them gently by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive sponges, and dry them immediately with a lint-free cloth to protect the historic surface.
