FAQs

Burr walnut has been prized in British cabinetry since the late 17th century, particularly during the Queen Anne and Victorian periods, for its highly figured, swirling grain patterns created by tree growths.

These pieces typically feature fine wood veneers applied to solid secondary timbers like pine or oak, utilizing traditional dovetail joinery and brass hardware.

Authenticity is identified through hand-cut dovetails, natural wax patination, traditional timber shrinkage cracks, and older secondary woods visible on the interior and back panels.

An antique walnut cabinet adds warmth and texture when contrasted against minimalist contemporary walls or used as a bedside table in a transitional bedroom scheme.

Preserve the wood by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dusting regularly with a soft cloth, and occasionally applying a traditional beeswax polish.
