An Admiralty ships clock is a heavy-duty timekeeper issued to naval vessels for precise navigation and watchkeeping during military operations, particularly prominent during the mid-20th century.

These clocks typically feature heavy forged brass or bronze casings, thick bevelled glass lenses, and robust mechanical movements designed to withstand harsh marine environments and vibrations.

Authentic pieces usually bear official military broad arrow stamps, serial numbers, maker marks, and rugged mounting flanges designed to secure the instrument to a ship bulkhead.

It functions effectively as a focal point on panelled walls, in a home office, or integrated into a maritime-inspired study alongside leather and dark wood furnishings.

Maintain the casing by dusting regularly with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemical polishes that strip historical patina, preserving the natural oxidisation of the metal.
