Mary Gregory glassware is characterised by silhouette enamel painting, typically in white depicting children playing in pastoral or woodland settings, originating in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

These bottles typically combine hand-blown or moulded coloured glass with sterling silver collars, mounts, and hinged or screw-on lids often featuring embossed decoration.

Authentic pieces carry stamped British hallmarks indicating the assay office (such as Birmingham), a standard mark like the lion passant for sterling silver, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

Position the piece on a mirrored tray atop a dressing table, mantelpiece, or bookshelf to catch the light and showcase the coloured glass and metallic detailing.

Dust the glass gently with a soft dry cloth and clean silver mounts sparingly using a specialist non-abrasive silver polish, taking care to avoid touching the painted enamel surface.
