This Georgian bracket clock takes the form of a warm brown mahogany case with a chamfer top, brass star inlays, and a brass pineapple finial standing on ball feet. The convex white dial displays black Roman numerals and carries the signature of the maker Taylor London, enclosed by a glazed door with a brass bezel. Additional brass details include linear inlay borders and decorative floral motifs across the lower front section. Measuring 51 cm in height by 28 cm in width and 14 cm in depth, the piece makes a striking statement on a mantelpiece or a desk within a traditional library or study. Practical for everyday use, the twin fusee eight-day movement strikes the hours on a bell and operates via a serviced mechanism, accompanied by its keys. The rear door incorporates glass to reveal the inner workings, while the sides hold ring handles for manoeuvring the object. The combination of dark wood tones, polished brass embellishments, and clean geometric lines creates an authentic period item suited to traditional interiors.

A Georgian chamfer top bracket clock is a spring-driven portable clock dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, characterised by angled or sloped top roof edges, mahogany casework, and brass decorative elements.

These clocks typically feature solid and veneered mahogany cases, cast brass finials and inlay work, glass panels, and painted enamel or brass dials set over heavy brass clockwork movements.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut joinery inside the casing, cast brass decorative details with hand-chased accents, original brass fusee movements, and maker signatures painted or engraved on the dial face.

Position the clock centrally on a stone or timber mantelpiece, or display it on a sideboard, flanked by symmetrical brass candlesticks or structured ceramic vases to anchor the display.

Keep the clock away from direct sunlight and heat sources to protect the timber finish, dust the casing regularly with a soft dry cloth, and have the mechanical movement serviced by a professional horologist every five years.
