Description

A very interesting and attractive clock that can serve as a pedestal clock ("Grandaughter" clock) or alternatively be separated and used as a bracket/mantel clock and the pedestal used for another purpose.

Constructed in a lovely golden oak case, it is beautifully polished with a nice rich, warm patina.

The westminster -chime clock has an arched glazed door with bevelled glass and brass surround. The silvered dial has engraved black Arabic numerals, Black hands, and with subsidiary rise and fall, and STRIKE/SILENT dials. It strikes on the quarters and the hour, playing the Westminster chime. Importantly, it strikes on rods giving a very crisp and sweet tone.

It has just been fully overhauled by our BHI registered horologist and carries our usual full parts and labour guarantee.

A very neat and tidy little clock. Complete with all keys, keeping perfect time, and ready to go straight to work.

All cards accepted.

A bracket clock is a portable spring-driven clock originally designed in the 17th century to sit on a wall bracket or table, though later examples were frequently paired with dedicated pedestals or stands.

Traditional bracket clocks typically feature solid timber cases such as oak or mahogany, brass dial faces with silvered chapter rings, and mechanical spring-driven movements with fusee or chiming mechanisms.

Authentic period pieces display traditional hand-cut joinery, aged brass components, hallmarks or maker signatures on the movement backplate, and natural timber ageing rather than artificial distressing.

An antique bracket clock serves as a strong focal point when placed upon a dedicated pedestal, console table, or mantelpiece, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary minimalist surroundings.

Antique clocks require placement away from direct sunlight and draughts, careful periodic mechanical servicing by a qualified horologist, and gentle dusting with a soft dry cloth.
