This Georgian wall cupboard is constructed from dark brown oak with a polished finish and a rich patina. The piece displays a single four-panel door fitted with a brass keyhole escutcheon and a small round knob, alongside a heavy moulded top cornice and a stepped plinth base at the bottom. The timbers show natural surface wear, minor blemishes, and historical marks appropriate for an 18th century English country house piece. Measuring 76.5 cm high, 65.5 cm wide, and 28 cm deep, the cabinet provides compact shelved storage behind its hinged door. Today, this traditional storage unit suits placement in a narrow wall space within a hallway, kitchen, or study. The sturdy structure stands ready for daily use while adding period character to domestic interiors. The dark timber grain complements traditional decor, and the compact proportions allow installation in confined areas where floor space is limited.

FAQs

Georgian oak cupboards were crafted during the 18th and early 19th centuries, typically featuring fielded panel doors, sturdy joinery, and functional designs suited for British country homes.

These cabinets were constructed from solid timber using hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, wooden pegs, and hand-planed panel inserts fitted into grooved frames.

Authentic period pieces exhibit signs of hand-sawing on backboards, irregular peg alignments, original iron or brass hardware, and natural timber shrinkage around the panels.

A small cupboard can be mounted on a wall or styled atop a console table in an entryway, kitchen, or bathroom to add contrast against contemporary backgrounds.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft dry microfibre cloth and apply a thin coat of high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to protect the timber finish.
