Georgian salt cellars gained popularity during the 18th century as dining habits shifted towards individual place settings. Wealthy households displayed elaborately cut lead crystal to reflect candleligh on the dining table.

These items were typically crafted from heavy lead glass or flint glass, shaped using blowing techniques and finished with hand-cut geometric patterns using a rotating wheel.

Authentic pieces often feature a pontil mark on the underside, a high lead content giving a distinct weight and ring, hand-cut facets with slight irregularities, and a soft greyish-blue oxidation hue.

These small vessels work well displayed on open shelving, sideboards, or coffee tables as decorative catchalls for small items like rings, or repurposed as miniature bud vases.

Wash antique glass by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent. Avoid sudden temperature changes to prevent thermal shock, and never place them in a dishwasher.
