Enamelled glass from around 1900 was heavily influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement and Art Nouveau, focusing on handcrafted artisanal techniques, natural motifs, and vibrant coloured enamels fired onto clear or coloured glass.

These pieces typically consist of blown glass decorated with mineral-based enamel paints, which are applied by hand and then heat-fused to the glass surface to ensure durability and a rich, opaque finish.

Authentication relies on examining the glass body for period-typical imperfections such as pontil marks, bubbles, and wear patterns, alongside the distinctive brushwork, palette, and signature style characteristic of turn-of-the-century enamel artists.

This type of decorative object works well as a standalone accent piece on a sideboard, a mantelpiece, or within a glass-fronted cabinet, adding a touch of historical craftsmanship and delicate colour to modern spaces.

Antique glass should be washed by hand using lukewarm water and mild soap, avoiding harsh chemicals, abrasive sponges, or immersion in hot water to protect the delicate enamel decoration from damage.
