  • MotifsVertical slice cuts, Knop stems, Circular flat bases
  • SizeH 11.5 cm (5 in)

Slice cutting emerged during the late 18th and 19th centuries, utilising geometric wheel cuts to create distinct facets on the exterior of blown glass vessels, enhancing both light refraction and grip.

These items are typically crafted from lead crystal or flint glass, characterised by a high refractive index, clarity, and substantial weight compared to standard soda-lime glass.

Authenticity is indicated by manual production traits, including pontil marks on the base, minor surface irregularities, wear scratches from historical use, and hand-cut facets that display slight variations.

Antique stemware can be displayed openly within glass-fronted cabinets, used on a bar cart to introduce texture, or integrated into tablescapes to add historical contrast to modern settings.

Antique glassware should be hand washed in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and dishwashers to prevent thermal shock and chemical hazing.
