This antique Georgian bow front corner cabinet dates to 1780. Constructed from flame mahogany and oak, the wall cupboard exhibits rich russet and caramel hues with a desirable aged patina. The piece features a curved bow front form, two tall doors, brass H-shaped butterfly hinges, and brass escutcheons with keyholes. Measuring 106 cm high, 70 cm wide, and 48.5 cm deep, the cabinet has solid joints and a suite of four graduated interior shelves. Designed for wall mounting or floor-standing anchor placement, the cupboard serves as a practical storage solution for an empty room corner in a home today. The doors open wide to reveal the shelves, while brass mounting loops secure the back frame. Solid construction and traditional English country house styling suit traditional and transitional interiors alike.

Originating in 18th-century England, these wall-mounted cupboards feature a convex curved front designed to fit into 90-degree room corners, providing storage while keeping floor space clear.

Cabinetmakers during this period typically utilised high-grade flame mahogany veneers over oak or pine substrates, finished with brass H-hinges and decorative keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic pieces display period construction techniques, including hand-sawn backboards, original slotted wood screws, hand-cut joinery, and natural age-related shrinkage along the curved veneer.

These wall-hung pieces serve as functional storage in compact dining areas, hallways, or cloakrooms, offering a place to store glassware or ceramics in unutilised wall spaces.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish once or twice per year, keeping the wood away from direct radiators and sunlight to prevent veneer movement.
