A rummer is a large, sturdy drinking glass that became popular in Britain during the late 18th and 19th centuries, primarily used for serving rum, wine, or ale.

These drinking vessels were traditionally crafted from heavy lead glass, often utilizing blown and moulded techniques followed by hand-engraving or cutting.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the base, characteristic weight due to lead content, slight surface imperfections, and hand-cut or wheel-engraved detailing typical of the period.

Antique glass rummers can be displayed singly or in groups on open shelving, inside glass-fronted cabinets, or repurposed as small flower vases on a dining table.

Wash antique glass by hand using lukewarm water and mild soap, avoiding sudden temperature changes and harsh scrubbing to protect the historic surface.
