The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Scandinavian country coffer dates from 1890 and functions as a storage chest. Made of pine with an iron and faux oak grain painted finish in a honey brown colour, the piece exhibits a rectangular shape with flush sides and a flat hinged top. Additional visible details include a panelled front with two false doors, visible grain patterns, block feet, and small hinges on the top. The piece measures 76 cm high, 108 cm wide, and 55 cm deep. It suits placement as a practical storage chest in a living room, hallway, or bedroom. Inside a home, this rustic farmhouse chest provides concealed storage for logs, blankets, or household items while serving as a functional surface. The lift-up lid grants easy access to the interior compartment. The sturdy block feet elevate the body off the floor, while the panelled door illusion adds texture to the front elevation. The simple silhouette adapts to traditional or country-style interiors seeking warmth through natural wood tones and honest craftsmanship.

FAQs

A Scandinavian pine log box is a heavy timber storage chest featuring a flat hinged lid, traditionally crafted to store firewood near hearths in Northern European homes.

These chests are built using solid Scandinavian pine, joined with dovetail or tenon joints, and finished with simple iron hinges and panelled fronts.

Authentic period pieces display hand-planed pine boards, hand-forged iron hardware, authentic wear around the base, and traditional panelled construction.

A pine log box functions well as a coffee table, fireside log store, or hallway bench, offering concealed storage while adding warmth to contemporary spaces.

Dust regularly with a dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually to preserve the timber nourish the grain and prevent drying out.
