FAQs

Victorian furniture encompasses styles produced during the reign of Queen Victoria (18371901), characterized by a revival of historicism, robust proportions, and detailed craftsmanship, often utilizing dense hardwoods such as oak and mahogany.

Cabinet makers of this era predominantly used solid oak, walnut, and mahogany, frequently incorporating secondary woods like pine for drawer linings and internal framing, complemented by cast brass or bronze hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails on drawer boxes, traditional timber shrinkage, hand-turned or carved detailing, and natural patination accumulated over decades of use.

Pairing antique wood pieces with minimalist modern decor creates a balanced contrast, allowing the historical texture, rich grain, and traditional craftsmanship to serve as a focal point in the room.

Maintain antique timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking. Clean regularly with a soft, dry cloth and occasionally apply natural beeswax to nourish the wood.
