A very Stylish Onyx and Chrome Clock and Garniture is the epitome of Art Deco. This mantel clock, with an unusual pendulum, has an eight day Pendule de Paris movement striking on a bell. The clock movement is housed in a four glass case with bevelled glass sided and doors. Michel Decoux born in Belgian but worked mainly in Paris, was regarded as an animal sculptor though he occasionally sculpted people. This Art Deco mantel clock set and garniture dates to the 1920 period. The ensemble consists of a central clock and two matching side urns, created from a combination of green onyx, chrome-plated metal, brass, and glass. The clock features a diamond-shaped dial with Arabic numerals, an unusual visible pendulum, and a four-glass case supported by hexagonal columns with brass bases and capitals. Crowning the clock is a silver-coloured metal sculpture of a German Shepherd dog by Michel Decoux. The side urns mirror the materials, standing on stepped green onyx bases with brass feet. The entire clock measures 51 cm high, 38 cm wide, and 12 cm deep. In a modern interior, this matching set serves as a striking focal point when displayed together on a large mantelpiece, sideboard, or console table in a living room or study. The combination of green onyx, polished chrome, and warm brass accents brings a distinct geometric glamour to the space. The side urns can be positioned symmetrically to frame the central clock, creating a balanced and cohesive decorative arrangement that highlights the architectural symmetry typical of the Art Deco style.

An Art Deco clock garniture is a three-piece decorative mantel set originating in the 1920s and 1930s, consisting of a central timepiece flanked by two matching side urns or vases designed to create a symmetrical display.

These sets frequently incorporate contrasting materials such as polished green or white onyx, variegated marble, chrome-plated metal, bevelled glass, and patinated metal or spelter animal sculptures.

Authentic pieces exhibit geometric shapes, stepped bases, clean sans-serif or diamond-shaped dials, original mechanical movements, and period-appropriate metal or stone craftsmanship.

Place the central clock on a fireplace mantelpiece, console table, or sideboard, positioning the matching garniture urns symmetrically on either side to frame the focal point.

Dust stone surfaces with a soft dry cloth and avoid acid-based cleaners that etch marble or onyx, while gently polishing chrome components with a dry microfibre cloth to prevent tarnish and fingerprint buildup.
