Car mascots, or hood ornaments, gained immense popularity during the 1920s and 1930s as a symbol of luxury and personal expression on automobiles, with master glassmakers like Rene Lalique elevating them to high art.

These pieces were typically cast using high-grade lead crystal or pressed glass, utilising both polished and frosted finishes to create contrast, often mounted on specialised metal bases.

Authentic pieces usually feature signature mould-pressed or engraved makers marks such as R. Lalique, correct weight proportions, and specific casting seams consistent with interwar manufacturing techniques.

Placed on a desk, mantelpiece, or within a cabinet with directional lighting, these sculptures serve as striking focal points that complement both modern and traditional decorative schemes.

Clean gently with a soft, lint-free cloth and mild soapy water, avoiding harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, and keep out of direct, prolonged sunlight to protect the glass integrity.
