Rummers emerged in the late 18th century as sturdy, large-capacity drinking vessels primarily used for ale, wine, or punch, remaining popular throughout the Victorian era.

These vessels were typically hand-blown from lead crystal or flint glass, featuring a thick bowl, a short stem with a central knop, and a conical foot, often decorated using wheel-engraving.

Authentic pieces exhibit characteristics such as pontil marks on the base, minor surface wear consistent with age, irregularities in the glass distribution, and precise wheel-cut or engraved detailing rather than modern chemical etching.

Displaying historical glassware within a glazed cabinet or on open shelving introduces subtle texture, historical context, and refined craftsmanship to contemporary spaces.

Antique glass should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, dried immediately with a lint-free cloth, and kept away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations.
