These two small porcelain vases date from the 1920 Edwardian period and display a cream and gold colour palette with gilded scroll handles and flared rims. Hand-painted scenes of Highland cattle graze within misty mountainous landscapes across the front of each body, complemented by matching gilding upon the base rim and neck. The smooth gloss glaze catches the light while highlighting the detailed brushwork of the animal fur and surrounding terrain. Measuring 14 cm high, 6 cm wide, and 6 cm deep, each piece stands compactly on a circular foot. Traditional homes use such decorative vessels to elevate interior styling when placed prominently on a mantelpiece. Collectors of fine British ceramics integrate them into displays dedicated to pastoral art or incorporate them within a Highland hunting lodge aesthetic. Their refined proportions permit placement upon occasional tables, display cabinets, or sideboards without dominating surrounding furniture. The combination of delicate hand-painted motifs and rich gilt accents brings classic character to traditional living spaces.

FAQs

Established in 1751, Royal Worcester became renowned during the 19th and early 20th centuries for producing fine porcelain featuring detailed hand-painted artwork, particularly pastoral landscapes and natural subjects.

Antique porcelain urns are crafted from refined kaolin clay fired at elevated temperatures, resulting in a smooth ceramic body that is subsequently decorated with enamel pigments and liquid gold gilding.

Authentic pieces can be identified by examining printed manufacturer marks on the base, observing fine brushwork details under magnification, and looking for subtle artist signatures within the painted decoration.

A pair of decorative porcelain urns can be placed symmetrically on a fireplace mantelpiece, console table, or sideboard to introduce warmth and classic texture to a modern room scheme.

Clean porcelain objects using a dry, soft microfibre cloth to remove dust. Avoid harsh liquid detergents, abrasive cleaning tools, or soaking, as these methods can degrade delicate hand-painted glaze and surface gilding.
