Antique Oak Silver ware chest .

A very rare Antique silver ware chest, ideal as a coffee table or centre piece.

We bring to you this hugely rare antique C1870 silver ware trunk in outstanding untouched original condition. This lovely chest is made from finely dovetail constructed solid Oak which is reinforced with brass strap work complete with its original robust iron and gilded carrying handles either side. This chest is in a lovely condition featuring its original French polished finish throughout with its lovely lightly faded original colour.

The chest bares its original owners name hand engraved into the brass plaque on the top which reads ''John Higgins Esq, Stratford upon Avon'' which we feel is quite charming.

Lifting the top reveals its fitted interior with a series of 4 lined and partitioned removable trays made to accommodate a large quantity of sliver ware, plates and platters, many have old paper organisation labels still intact. This chest is ready to accept a silverware collection or these trays could be kept as they are as a talking point or simply left out all together and stored elseware to make way for other types of storage or collections.

We have just cleaned and waxed this chest to maintain and protect the original finish whilst adding a natural sheen. We have not polished the brass bandings on this chest as we loved how it looked without, however, we are happy to polish these up if you require, please enquire for this.

With this chest having a flat top it is ideal to be used as a coffee table, antique/vintage chest for storage or just be used as a room decor curiosity or talking point for guests .
