Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Maintenance involves professional mechanical servicing every few to several years, keeping the case away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and ensuring the clock is positioned on a stable, level surface.

A longcase clock serves as a strong vertical architectural element and functions best placed in a hallway, landing, or living room alongside neutral walls to highlight the warmth of the wood and the craftsmanship of the dial.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the integration of the movement to the dial, the hand-engraving quality on the brass face, the ageing of the timber within the case, and the makers signature inscribed on the dial.

Traditional longcase clocks feature solid timber cases, most commonly oak, mahogany, or walnut, housing brass movements, dials with engraved details, and lead or iron weights suspended by cords or chains.

Longcase clocks, commonly known as grandfather clocks, emerged in Britain during the late 17th century following the invention of the anchor escapement, which allowed for longer pendulums and narrower cases.
