FAQs

Car mascots, also known as hood ornaments, were popular automotive accessories during the 1920s and 1930s, featuring sculptural designs crafted by renowned glassmakers and metalworkers of the period.

These pieces were typically crafted using mould-blown or pressed crystal glass, followed by acid-etching or staining to achieve contrasting clear and frosted finishes that accentuated the sculptural details.

Authentic pieces usually bear period signatures or moulded marks such as R. Lalique, often accompanied by design numbers, and exhibit the crisp detailing and weight characteristic of genuine vintage production.

Such decorative objects can be displayed on mantelpieces, desks, or within illuminated display cabinets where light can pass through the clear and frosted surfaces to highlight the craftsmanship.

Clean the glass gently using lukewarm water and a mild, non-abrasive detergent, drying it thoroughly with a soft, lint-free cloth to avoid scratching the delicate frosted surfaces.
