An unusual French mantel clock in a bronze case by Victor Anathase Pierret, the bronze case patinated in matt black, with a plain rectangular top with cavetto moulding below over a glazed front and plain sides and on a plinth base, and with a silvered dial, Roman numerals in black with an outer minute track and black steel hands, to the rear a hinged door opening to the eight day spring driven movement with a platform lever escapement with a steel balance wheel, stamped lower centre V.A.P Breveté S.G.D.G. (Warranted without Government guarantee). Retailed by Dixon of Norwich. French, circa 1850. Victor Anathase Pierret (1806-1868) made clocks in Paris, and exhibited at the Great Exhibition in London in 1851. He stopped working in 1865. Condition: Excellent, the clock is in superb condition and the case is virtually blemish free. The movement has been fully serviced and overhauled and is in working condition.
