This three-piece French Louis XVI style clock garniture dates from the 19th century and includes a central mantel clock accompanied by two matching twin-light candelabra. The ensemble is composed of pink rouge marble combined with gilt bronze and ormolu mounts, finished in pink and gold with white enamel on the dial. The clock sits on a bow-fronted base with scrolled feet, featuring a floral finial top, scroll arms on the candelabra, and decorative musical instrument carvings on the front. The dial displays an enamel face with floral swags, two key holes, and original hands, complemented by side gilded mounts and turn brass feet. Measuring 30.5 cm high, 18 cm wide, and 11.5 cm deep for the clock component, this set is complete with its key and an adjustable brass pendulum. In a contemporary home, this garniture set is designed for placement on a mantelpiece to display traditional timekeeping and candelabra lighting.

A clock garniture is a decorative ensemble consisting of a central mantel clock accompanied by a pair of matching decorative pieces, such as candelabra or urns, designed to sit on a fireplace mantelpiece.

French garnitures were traditionally constructed using gilt bronze, also known as ormolu, alongside decorative marbles such as rouge marble or white statuary marble, accompanied by enamelled clock dials.

Authentic period garnitures feature stamped French brass movements, hand-chased bronze mounts with original fire gilding, enamelled numerical dials, and matching marble bases across all three items.

Style a clock garniture arranged symmetrically across a fireplace mantelpiece, dining room sideboard, or entryway console table to provide architectural balance and classic structure.

Dust gilt bronze mounts regularly with a soft, dry microfibre brush, avoiding chemical cleaners or polishes that strip gilding, and wipe marble components with a clean, slightly damp cloth.
