Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

19th-century Swedish rustic pine furniture is known for its utilitarian form, sturdy joinery, and decorative paint finishes such as faux-graining (adringsmalning). These pieces were crafted by local woodworkers for rural households, reflecting traditional Scandinavian folk design.

These cupboards were predominantly constructed using native slow-grown Scandinavian pine joined with mortise and tenon techniques. Finishes often involved hand-applied distemper or oil-based paints to imitate costlier hardwoods like walnut or mahogany.

Authentic items typically feature original hand-forged iron hardware, wooden peg construction, and natural wear patterns on high-touch areas. The reverse side and interior often display unsmoothed, hand-sawn timber boards with historical surface oxidisation.

A rustic cupboard serves as a grounded focal point in minimalist or modern country interiors when balanced against clean architectural lines. Positioned in an entryway, kitchen, or living room, it offers functional storage while adding texture through its aged, patinated surface.

Preserve the original painted finish by dusting with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and keeping the piece away from direct sunlight or radiator heat sources. Avoid chemical cleaners, water, or heavy waxes, which can strip fragile, flaking historical paint layers.
