Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the eighteenth century and reaching peak popularity during the Victorian era, an epergne is an elaborate table centrepiece designed to hold flowers, sweetmeats, or fruit. Victorian glassmakers crafted these multi-tiered vessels to add height, colour, and visual interest to formal dining tables during multi-course banquets.

Cranberry glass was produced by introducing gold chloride into molten glass, creating a rich pink to ruby hue upon reheating. The individual trumpets, baskets, and ruffled rims were hand-blown and shaped using basic hand tools, often finished with applied clear glass rigaree or spiral trailing.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces feature hand-blown construction details such as polished or pontil marks at the base, slight variations in glass thickness, and hand-worked rigaree trailing. The metal fitments joining the glass trumpets to the base bowl should display period-appropriate brass or metal patina rather than modern fixtures.

In contemporary settings, a cranberry glass epergne serves as a focal point when placed on a polished dining table, sideboard, or mantelpiece. It can be styled empty to highlight its architectural form and glass colour, or lightly dressed with single stem blossoms to complement its original function.

Hand washing in lukewarm water with mild dish soap using a soft cloth is recommended. Avoid sudden temperature changes or abrasive sponges, and dismantle removable glass trumpets prior to cleaning to prevent stress on the glass joints or brass mountings.
