Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of nineteenth century Chinese export porcelain vases displays a polychrome enamel palette of pink, blue, green, and orange, finished with flared rims and pierced wooden bases. The exterior surfaces feature detailed court figurative panels depicting traditional Chinese scenes, complemented by birds, foliage, and single raised gilt dragon handles on each piece. Each vessel exhibits a glossy glazed finish with clear multi-coloured enamels and stands upon a dark carved wooden stand with openwork scroll detailing. The dimensions measure 39 cm high, 19 cm wide, and 19 cm deep. These decorative ornaments suit placement on a traditional sideboard top in a living room, dining room, or hallway setting. They work well within an English Country House interior aesthetic as focal display objects, pairing easily with classic wooden furniture and neutral or dark walls.

FAQs

Chinese export porcelain was crafted during the Qing Dynasty specifically for Western trade, featuring hand-painted decorative panels of court figures, flora, and fauna framed by ornate borders.

These pieces were fashioned from fine white kaolin clay porcelain, decorated with polychrome overglaze enamels, and often finished with gilt painted highlights or applied gilded ceramic handles.

Authentic 19th-century examples display visible hand-painted brushwork, subtle variations in enamel thickness, minor firing imperfections in the clay body, and natural wear to gilded accents and unglazed base rims.

Place the pair symmetrically on a sideboard or mantelpiece to create a focal point, pairing them with minimal contemporary accessories to display the intricate polychrome detail.

Clean gently with a soft dry cloth or lightly damp microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals, abrasive sponges, or immersion in water which can degrade delicate gilded accents and enamel glaze.
