A very fine and unusually rare mid 18th century Georgian whisky dram glass, dating to c1750.

Although relatively simple in design, this particular form is considerably less common than many other 18th century dram glasses.
Glasses of this type are sometimes described as ship's dram glasses, their low, squat proportions and unusually broad feet providing greater stability than taller, more conventional drinking glasses.

However, there is no reason to suggest that their use was restricted to ships. They would have been equally practical in taverns, inns and private households, where a sturdy drinking glass was particularly useful.

An exceptional surviving example, approximately 275 years old, with a generous capacity that will comfortably accommodate two or more modern 25ml whisky measures.
