This mantel clock dates from the Art Deco period of 1930 and sits upon small block feet. The multi-tiered structure combines cream onyx with red and black variegated marble, complemented by a square brass clock face and rectangular bronze side panels. The front shows a central dial with black Roman numerals and dark hands, flanked by low-relief landscape scenes depicting leaping gazelles on the left and a prowling panther with a bird in flight on the right. Additional details include visible winding holes on the face and patterned foliage detailing in the central section. Measuring 23 cm high by 42 cm wide and 9 cm deep, the clock is compact enough for display on a mantelpiece or shelf. It suits a living room, study or hallway styled with period interior pieces, functioning both as a decorative ornament and a timekeeping device in a modern home.

Art Deco mantel clocks, predominantly originating from the 1920s and 1930s, are characterised by geometric structures, bold symmetry, and stylized decorative motifs such as exotic animals, sunbursts, or stepped architectural forms.

These timepieces frequently feature multi-coloured marble, onyx, slate, and alabaster combined with patinated bronze, spelter, or brass relief inserts and architectural elements.

Authentic pieces often showcase hand-cut geometric stone joinery, heavy mechanical movements with winding key holes on the dial, and period-appropriate stylized numerals or reliefs depicting 1930s motifs.

Display the clock as a focal piece on a modern mantelpiece, side table, or minimalist credenza, allowing its striking geometric silhouette and natural stone textures to contrast against neutral walls.

Dust stone surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners which can etch marble or onyx. Clean bronze accents gently without abrasive polishes to preserve the original patina.
