Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This clear crystal glass vase originates from England during the 1930s in the Art Deco style. The piece takes a flared form with a wide rim and a rounded base, ornamented on the exterior with a continuous spiral of applied black glass cane decoration wrapping horizontally around the body. The transparent vessel reveals bright highlights, smooth curved surfaces, and reflections within the glass structure alongside the distinct dark trailing lines. Measuring 24 cm high and 20 cm wide, it stands as a compact decorative accessory for interior display. Placed upon a sideboard top in a living room, dining area or hallway, the vase functions as a standalone sculptural object or holds fresh floral arrangements to complement contemporary or traditional home interiors.

FAQs

Art Deco glassware from the 1930s is characterised by clean geometric forms, strong linear detailing, and contrasting visual elements, often shifting away from heavy Victorian cut glass toward minimalist shapes enhanced with coloured glass accents.

The technique involved trailing a molten thread or rod of black glass onto the main body of the clear molten crystal vessel while it was rotated on a blowpipe, fusing the contrasting material directly onto the surface before cooling.

Authentic period glass typically exhibits natural base wear consistent with age, smooth pontil marks or polished bases, appropriate weight from lead content, and hand-applied irregularities in the decorative trailing.

Position the vase on a sleek sideboard or marble fireplace mantelpiece where light can pass through the crystal, filling it sparingly with single-stem foliage to maintain focus on the monochrome linear decoration.

Hand wash the item in tepid water using mild liquid detergent and a soft sponge, avoiding extreme temperature changes and abrasive chemicals that could cause thermal shock or surface scratching.
