An Edwardian desk clock made by Walker & Hall during the George V period, hallmarked Sheffield 1923. The square casing comprises a solid silver front plate with a beaded border along the outer edge, surrounding a circular dial inset into a gilded bezel with convex glass. The clock face displays black Arabic numerals and slender hands, while clear hallmarks sit near the bottom edge of the silver plate. The piece measures 7 cm high, 7 cm wide, and 7.5 cm deep when the rear stand is extended. This small timepiece serves as a functional decorative accessory for an office desk or a gentleman's library. The silver front plate shows subtle surface marks and reflections typical of handling over time, while the warm metallic tones of the brass bezel contrast against the polished silver surface. It sits upright on a flat surface supported by a folding easel stand on the reverse, where the winding key and adjustment knobs are positioned.

Antique silver travelling clocks gained prominence during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras as compact horological pieces designed to be transported securely during travel while providing functional elegance on hotel bedside tables and writing desks.

These timepieces typically feature sterling silver outer casings bearing official assay hallmarks, brass internal clockwork movements, glass crystals, and gilded or enamel dials decorated with Arabic or Roman numerals.

Authentic British silver clocks feature clear struck hallmarks on the casing, including the maker mark, silver purity symbol such as the lion passant, city assay mark, and a specific date letter stamp.

A small silver desk clock can be positioned on an executive office desk, styled on a bedside table, or placed alongside leather-bound books on a bookshelf or console table to add a metallic accent.

Maintain the casing by dusting regularly and applying a silver polishing cloth gently to the metalwork, taking precautions to prevent polish or liquids from entering the movement or seeping behind the glass dial cover.
