Penderyn Antiques has dated this Victorian Painted Housekeeper Cupboard to the Victorian era.
The doors retain a working lock and key. Beneath are four drawers, comprising two smaller drawers over two full-width drawers, all retaining their original turned wooden knobs. The cupboard is finished with a moulded cornice and raised on shaped bracket feet. The rich, warm reddish-brown painted finish gives the piece a wonderfully understated, period appearance, with variation in tone and areas of natural wear adding to its aged character.

The cupboard has age-related wear and minor marks throughout, commensurate with age and use. The painted finish displays some variation and wear consistent with its age, with historic splits to the sides. These are stable and do not affect the overall structural integrity of the piece. All drawers run smoothly, and the cupboard remains solid and sound throughout, with good honest character and patina and ready for everyday use.
