Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian country pine furniture was produced throughout the nineteenth century for functional domestic use. These pieces typically feature straightforward joinery, turned wooden handles, panelled doors, and a natural or warm stained wax finish.

These cupboards were constructed using solid Scots or pitch pine, joined with hand-cut dovetails on the drawers and mortise and tenon joinery on door frames. Hardware frequently consisted of turned wooden knobs and iron hinges, set upon a solid plinth base.

Authentic nineteenth-century pine furniture displays hand-planed rear boards, irregular dovetail joints, and natural timber shrinkage over time. Original turned wooden knobs and age-consistent wear around handles and plinths also indicate period authenticity.

Pairing warm pine timber with modern neutral paint palettes, such as muted greens or off-whites, balances the traditional woodwork. Displaying contemporary ceramics or understated glassware on top creates a clean contrast between modern and historic elements.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and radiators to prevent the pine from drying out or splitting.
